Abstract
This paper presents a measurement-based technique for equivalent circuit modeling of various types of SubMiniature version A (SMA) connectors. The 50- $\mathbf {\Omega }$ microstrip (MS) lines and conductor-backed coplanar waveguides are designed on high-frequency laminates. Three types of low-cost SMA connectors are mounted on the manufactured transmission lines. The presented technique for sequential buildup of the equivalent circuit model generates an equivalent circuit model of the SMA connector composed of ideal transmission lines and ideal lumped elements suitable for implementation in various circuit simulators. The SMA connector modeling is performed up to 12 GHz. The accuracy of the developed models is assessed by examination of the obtained $S$ -parameter results using the feature selective validation.
