Abstract

This paper is concerned with the sequential operation of linear product feedback shift registers (f.s.r.). Special reference is made to the polynomial representation of feedback logic in a linear f.s.r.; and the concept of generating function is shown to facilitate the evalution of its sequence structure. The circuit implementation of a product feedback shift register is then presented as a linear parallel, as well as series combination of its factors. Methods are described to predict the complete cycle set of the product f.s.r. from a knowledge of its factors.
