Abstract

Separation of Cd(II) from industrial wastewater via hollow fiber supported liquid membrane (HFSLM) was examined. The effect of pH of feed and stripping solutions, type and concentration of extractants were investigated. Optimal conditions were 0.12M D2EHPA. pH of feed and stripping solutions were 5.5 and 3.0, respectively. Percentages of extraction and stripping of Cd(II) reached about 97.08% and 57.18%. Interestingly, an isotherm model was applied to the HFSLM process. It was noted that Langmuir model fitted in better than Freundlich model with a deviation of 7.76%. Thus, when Cd(II) ion was extracted inside HFSLM, a mono-layer consumption occurred.
