Abstract

A relay network has origin-node (O), multiple intermediate-nodes (I i ) and a final-node (F). The existing selection combining technique is modified to obtain better performance. The scheme adopts a novel decision rule at the final node to select the appropriate diversity link. A symbol-error-probability (SEP) is derived for the proposed SC technique with binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation technique in the presence of flat Rayleigh fading channel. The decode and forward protocol is adopted at the intermediate node. The origin to final node (OF) and origin to intermediate to the final node (OI i F) links are assumed to be independent and identically distributed (i.i.d). The result shows that the proposed SC scheme performs better than the conventional SC scheme. The computation results are verified using Monte-Carlo simulations.
