Abstract

In this paper a novel sensor fault tolerant control strategy is developed with a case study for its application in the reheat furnace control. The governing equation method is adopted to carry out the sensor fault detection with the top and bottom thresh olds of the constraints calculated based on some balance equations and process mechanism dynamically. A series of sensor fault oriented alternative control algorithms are desinated, which is to be in action when the corresponding sensor fault is identified. In the way different sensor faults activate different control algorithms the sensor fault tolerent control is realized with the minimum performance deterioration. Hybird knowledge representation (with the combination of governing equation, process model, operating expertise) and heuristic search technique are applied in the implementation of the developed fault detection and fault tolerant control for maximum flexibility and efficiency.
