Abstract

It is shown that the electrical potential drop technique applied to the study of fracture in chevron‐notched specimens is insensitive to errors in the potential and current interprobe distance measurements. It is concluded, therefore, that the method is useful whenever the contact area between the probe and material is difficult to define, i.e., for metal‐ceramic surface contacts.
