comfort of the patient, questions remain with regard to the use of multiple raters and the actual choice of outcome criteria. For these reasons we have employed the strategy of including a variety of different outcome measures using both the doctor and patient as raters. In proceeding from study to study, insensitive measures would be deleted and new measures added. Proceeding in this way it is feasible to develop a core battery of maximally sensitive criteria.
