Abstract

This correspondence analyzes the sensitivity of multiband zero-padding (ZP) orthogonal-frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based ultra-wide-band receivers to carrier and sampling clock errors. Analytical expressions and numerical results for the power of intercarrier interference (ICI) and signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) induced by imperfect carrier frequency and phase synchronization are presented and corroborated via computer simulations. It is found that the multiband zero-padding OFDM-based ultra-wide-band receivers are quite sensitive to carrier frequency errors but robust to sampling clock errors and small carrier phase offset errors
