Abstract

We consider the Gauss-Markov estimator (GME) in a linear model and the influence of using a wrong covariance matrix V+αR instead of the correct matrix V. For this purpose we give conditions that the derivative of the GME with respect to a vanishes. In many cases it turns out that derivatives only can be zero in directions where the GME is also constant for some finite interval.
