Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to employ text mining techniques to examine discussions concerning senior travel topics in the TripAdvisor forums. Through this meticulous examination of discussions, we aim to unravel not only the surface-level themes but also the underlying motivations and concerns that drive seniors to actively participate in travel forums. The prevalent topics include essential travel insurance details, with a particular emphasis on coverage related to the disease of COVID-19. Other recurring subjects involve travel/tour agencies, considerations for cash or card payments, and discussions on customer service, especially in the context of insurance and travel companies/agencies. Results highlight that forum discussions align with prior studies on seniors, identifying three primary constraints: health, safety/security, and specific recommendations. Senior travellers predominantly seek advice on travel companies, insurance providers, services, and destinations.
