1.1 Alternative Models Explaining the Composition of a ServiceIn order to categorize the different types of services available on Egyptian travel agents’ sites, it is important to examine the different existing models describing the nature and composition of services
The purpose of this research is to study the evolution of online travel services through a survey conducted on a sample of thirty Egyptian travel agents’ websites over a period of ten years
Summary
In order to categorize the different types of services available on Egyptian travel agents’ sites, it is important to examine the different existing models describing the nature and composition of services. It is important to mention that among the four models, Kotler’s (1997) classification offers the most comprehensive framework since it includes precisely defined levels with clear distinctions between levels in terms of the purpose served and the value added. It includes more levels than the other three models and gives more latitude for classifying services. The clear distinction among the different levels under Kotler’s framework does not lead to confusion in classifying different services as might be the case with some of the other models as will be explained below
