Abstract

The height of the intergrain energy barrier plays a key role in the determination of the conductive properties of semiconducting nanograins. In the limit of very-fine nanograins (<1nm), quantum effects start being relevant in the determination of physical properties. The authors approached the problem in a semiclassical method such as the Thomas-Fermi equation. Its predictions appear to be consistent with experimental evidence.
