Abstract

In this paper Simulation of phase shifted bridgeless boost converter fed four quadrant DC motor is presented. In this work a phase shifted bridgeless PFC boost rectifier is proposed to reduce harmonic distortion of the input AC line current and improve the over all performance of the DC motor. Conventional boost converter and interleaved dual boost converter fed DC motor suffer from the high conduction loss in the input diode bridge rectifier. Improved power factor, reduced total harmonic distortion and rated speed of the motor can be achieved by using PSSB boost converter PFC topology. The proposed method of control has the concept of DC link voltage proportional to the desired speed of the DC motor. The simulation study concludes that the generate the less THD when compared to conventional converters fed DC motor and speed of the motor is nearly rated speed.
