Abstract

The Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are playing a vital role in various fields like Electronics, Medical, industrial and Automotive. This paper presents the brushless DC motor which is fed by bridgeless converter. The diode bridge rectifier circuit is eliminated by having bridgeless converter and thus the conduction losses were reduced. At ac supply mains, enhanced power factor is obtained by operating bridgeless converter in discontinuous inductor current mode. A wide range of controlled voltage is fed to voltage source inverter by buck boost converter which in turn controls the speed of BLDC motor. The simulation of bridgeless converter fed BLDC motor using Proportional Integral controller and Fuzzy controller were done in MATLAB/Simulink. Improved power factor is obtained at ac mains by using bridgeless buck boost converter. The power quality at ac main is maintained within permissible limits. The worthiness of the simulation is illustrated experimentally by developing a prototype.
