Abstract

Depending on the fertility practice, nurses perform the majority of intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedures. After placing the catheter through the cervix and into the uterine cavity, a concentrated sample of motile sperm is injected and the catheter is removed. It is disappointing when you see some of the sperm sample reflux from the cervical os, also called regurgitation. The objective of our study was to determine if the presence of regurgitation during IUI affects pregnancy rates.
