Abstract

The article deals with the semantic features of position verbs, the meaning of which contains an indication of the direction of motion, in the Russian and German languages. It has been established that in the compared languages the types of information in the semantics of the studied verbal units are presented unevenly depending on the spatial direction. As a result of the analysis of the meaning of position verbs with the seme ‘direction’ in Russian and German, both general and specific semantic characteristics have been revealed.
