Abstract
Quantitative compositional maps are used to determine the nature and extent of chemical reactions between melted BaO-Y 2O 3-CuO material and capsules of Pt, Au, and Ag 70Pd 30. All three capsule materials are reactive with barium-yttrium-copper superconductor compositions. The effect of the reactions on the results of phase equilibria experiments is discussed.
