Abstract

Objective To investigate the level and influencing factors of self-directed learning among nursing probationers, so as to provide evidence for the effective promotion of self-directed learning of nursing students. Methods Adopting the general information questionnaire and Self-Directed Learning Instrument (SDLI) for Nursing Students to investigate 300 nursing probationers. Results The overall self-directed learning ability of nursing probationers was medium, and the average score of SDLI was (72.35±12.07) points. The highest mean score of the four domains was interpersonal communication which scored 73.93 ± 13.67 and the lowest score was planning and implementing which scored 70.19 ± 14.16. Learning motivation (β=0.408, P<0.01), different internship hospital (β=0.205, P<0.01), and participating in group learning (β=0.114, P <0.05) were influencing factors of nursing probationers' self-directed learning. Conclusions Nursing probationers' self-directed learning need to be improved. Nursing educators should provide corresponding guidance and teaching strategies for students to enhance their self-directed learning ability.
