For the first time molecules of water were trapped in a neutral zinc and cobalt complexes mimicking resting state of alcohol dehydrogenase. The quality of crystals allowed detailed comparison of intramolecular hydrogen bonds in the studied zinc and cobalt compounds. The conclusions were confirmed by solid state FT-IR spectroscopy.
