Abstract

A hyphomycete with streptoform, Botrytis-like conidiophores has been isolated from Caulophyllum thalictroides (L.) Michx., Thalictrum polygamum Muhl., and Sanguinaria canadensis L. Under cultural conditions mass-conidial isolates from both Caulophyllum and Thalictrum produced apothecia but isolates from Sanguinaria did not. The isolates from Caulophyllum and Thalictrum are considered to be the imperfect state of Streptotinia caulophylli Elliott. Sexuality studies with single-ascospore cultures show that this species is hermaphroditic and self-sterile.
