Abstract
(Figure Presented) Iron rations: Amphiphilic catechol-based chelators and their iron complexes self-assemble in solution at physiological pH values to form spherical particles (see cryo-TEM image). In terms of iron nutrition properties these abiotic chelators mimic siderophores from marine bacteria. © 2005 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
