Abstract
In this study, Pr0.5In0.5BaCo3ZnO7+δ (PIBCZ) is synthesised by the high-temperature solid state reactions method as a cathode material for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Interestingly, a self-assembled composite cathode with three phases of Pr0.5-xIn0.5+xBaCo3ZnO7+δ (P0.5-xI0.5+xBCZ), PrBaCo2O5+δ and CoO is formed by one pot methode. The average thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of PIBCZ in air is 14.0 × 10−6 K−1 in the temperature range of 20–900 °C, and its electrical conductivity reaches 20.8 S cm−1 at 800 °C. The area specific resistance (ASR) and maximum power density (MPD) reach 0.02 Ω cm2 and 435 mW cm−2 at 800 °C, respectively.
