Abstract

The effect of oxygen concentration, water vapor, and SO2 on the reduction of NO over alumina-supported silver catalyst was investigated. Oxygen promoted the reduction of NO by initiating the oxidation of propene. The reduction of NO by ethanol was interfered significantly in the presence of SO2, while water vapor had no interference on the reduction. Relatively high NH3 and N2O were produced on the reduction of NO with ethanol. Pore diffusion also affected the reduction of NO over Ag/Al2O3 catalysts.
