Abstract

Vegetable oil based biolubricants are emerging as ecofriendly alternative to the conventional lubricants. These lubricants can have different performances and properties. This paper discusses application of TOPSIS MCDM model for ranking biolubricants based on their performance and properties. Biolubricants studied are the TMP esters of sunflower oil, soybean oil and palm olein oil. Based on the selection criterion and weights input to the TOPSIS model, sunflower TMP ester found to be the best choice. But sensitivity analysis of the model reveals if weights of the criterion are changed, soybean TMP ester could become the best choice.
