Abstract

Hybrid energy system has various sources like solar, wind energy, fuel cell, battery, super capacitor, etc., with different voltage-current characteristics. The main drawback in these systems is low efficiency and performance of renewable energy source. Therefore the main objective of this paper is to improve the efficiency and increase the voltage level of various renewable energy sources. This paper explains how the selection of materials is important in improving the performance of alternative sources of energy. Comparison of various materials is given to choose a better material for better performance of renewable energy source. A multi-input dc-dc converter is a perfect power electronic interface for integration, reliability, and utilization of these energy sources. Two input dc-dc converter topologies are presented in this paper. The proposed converter voltage gain is more compared to the existing converter, without using a voltage multiplier cell and any other auxiliary circuit. The voltage is increased eight times more than the recently published topology with lesser components. In this paper, the proposed dual input dc-dc converter is simulated using MATLAB, and the results tabulated.
