Abstract

ABSTRACT This case provides an opportunity for students to engage in an active learning simulation of a company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software selection process. Groups of students are assigned to represent management, advisors, and ERP software vendors, each playing their role in the process of identifying requirements, generating and evaluating a request for proposal (RFP), responding to an RFP and making a reasoned recommendation to the CEO and board of directors. The case encourages active learning and provides students a chance to exercise professional business writing and presentation skills. It also provides a unique opportunity to practice persuasive communication skills.
