P176 SEISMIC FILTERING IN A LAPPED TRANSFORM DOMAIN WITH HIDDEN MARKOV MODELS LAURENT DUVAL IFP Technology Computer Science and Applied Mathematics Department 95852 Rueil-Malmaison Cedex France laurent.duval@ifp.fr Abstract Efficient denoising procedures are required to assess the various noise sources present in seismic data. Wavelet bases are good candidates for filtering tools allowing efficient separation of signal and noise coefficients. Recent works have demonstrated excellent performance by modelling the dependencies between wavelet coefficients inside or across scales using hidden Markov models. This work focuses on the use of lapped transforms associated with hidden Markov modelling. Lapped transforms are generated by M
