Abstract

During the last decade the segmentation theory approach has been very popular among labour-market researchers It has been attempted to use this theory to explain differentiation and marginalization on the labour market in many European countries. This article describes a Danish research project which aims at an analysis of the segmentation on the Danish labour market and its consequences for the labour-market attachment of different groups of workers The central themes in the article are partly the development of a sociological theory of segmentation and partly the relation between segmentation and mobility on the Danish labour market.
