Abstract

Summary
A case of ischemia of the splenic flexure of the colon is presented. This is believed to be the first reported case in which the diagnosis was confirmed preoperatively by percutaneous selective inferior mesenteric angiography. The potentiality of this technic for improved diagnosis and understanding of mesenteric vascular patterns is discussed. Preoperative distinction between bowel ischemia, segmental ulcerative colitis, and regional enteritis may be clarified by use of selective mesenteric angiography.
