Abstract

The conformation of physically end-adsorbed polystyrene chains in polystyrene melt matrices was studied using neutron reflectivity. The results were compared with the predictions of numerical self-consistent field theory. The end-adsorbed chains formed weakly stretched brushes; the widths of the interface between free and brush chains were found to be slightly less than widths predicted by theory.
