SEG 75thAnniversary at Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Abstract

The Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Geophysical Society was established in 2004. It is fortunate that SEG's 75th Anniversary occured just after the CASGS student section was established last year. This year, the institute student section organized several talks to introduce SEG history and has invited two delegates from United States oil companies to give talks on recent advances in seismic exploration in such areas as preserved amplitude migration, antialiasing, angular gather imaging, and anisotropic imaging. Last year, the institute invited the Geophysics editor Gerard T. Schuster to give talks on recent advances in seismic imaging. He also introduced the history of SEG and provided SEG anniversary badges and a gift from SEG. As he suggested, the institute established an SEG Beijing student section in 2004.
