Abstract

The objective of evaluating the response of wheat seed size from cultivars and lots, as well as the canonical interrelations of the physical and physiological characteristics of the seeds. The experimental design was a randomized block, organized in a factorial scheme, with three wheat genotypes (Quartzo, Ametista and TBIO Sinuelo) x six seed lots (A, B, C, D, E and F) x five sizes of sieves (I: standard sample used by farmers and seed producers (AO), II: seeds> 3,00 mm, III: seeds 2,5 to 2,99 mm, IV: seeds between 2,0 and 2,49 mm and V: < 2.0 mm), and the treatments were arranged in four replicates. The characters measured were: one thousand seed mass, hectoliter weight, germination, first germination count, germination speed index, field emergence, emergence speed index, seedling shoot length, seedling root length, seedling shoot dry mass, seedling root dry mass and electrical conductivity. There is variability of the physical and physiological attributes due to the dimensions of the wheat seeds, being these specific for the effects of cultivar and seed lots. Larger wheat seeds potentiate seed vigor in general for wheat cultivars.
