Abstract

Unplanned populational development is the reason of a huge impact in the environment, especially in urban areas. Production of solid waste has been gradually increased and its disposal usually occurs in inappropriate places, as in the headwater of rivers. With respect to water resources, the presence of pollutants results in a significant damage to water ecosystem by turning into an insanitary environment, and harmful to people’s life quality. Such damage refers to sediments, fertilizers, oils, heavy metals, among others, that are usually thrown in different watersheds, mainly in the urban ones.
