Abstract
Stress is increasingly present in the world of work, compromising or enhancing harmful effects on the mental health of these workers. This study aims to analyze whether stress at work can cause common mental disorders in nursing workers in the oncology setting. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, data collection was carried out from March to April 2023, using three instruments. The results showed, according to the EET, the prevalence of moderate/high stress was 56.76% (n=21) in nurses and 59.70% (n=40) in nursing technicians. Regarding the suspicion of CMD in 40.54% of nurses and 50.75% among nursing technicians. There was an association between stress and CMD in nurses with statistical significance p=0.0185. It is concluded that a significant number of nursing professionals are at potential risk for mental illness
