Abstract
A secure communication scheme using a chaos system is proposed. The noise-like properties of chaotic signals have been exploited for secure communication in both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and mobile channels. The proposed system does not need to know the initial condition of the chaotic signals between the receiver and the transmitter. We compare three threshold techniques and show the results of the bit error ratio (BER) performance in an AWGN channel and in a mobile channel. We also compare the BER performance as frequency selectivity is changed. A drawback of the proposed system is that the optimal solution of the threshold value has not been found yet. The proposed secure communication system using chaotic signals is robust to mobile and AWGN channels resulting in a good BER performance without synchronization between the receiver and the transmitter.
