SECTION I - The Main Issues

Abstract

This chapter highlights the main issues addressed at the symposium described in the chapter. On the basis of its discussion of impacts, relationships and the methods by which policy-oriented research is or can be institutionalized, the symposium considered policies that it wished to endorse. It was possible throughout to relate conceptualizations to the actual cases of the role of research in Sweden, the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the developing countries.
