Abstract

A dissonance phenomenon is observed to occur between two types of interference fringes: (1) those produced by stationary light waves formed in front of a mirror and made visible on a thin translucent film and (2) the fringes of equal thickness formed by the wedge of air enclosed between the thin film and the mirror.
