Abstract

We report the first efficient blue second harmonic generation (SHG) in a second-order quasi-phase matching (QPM) LiNbO3 waveguide. We show both theoretically and experimentally that the second-orderQPM grating is the optimum structure for waveguideSHG in LiNbO3 waveguides. Using such a structure, we have demonstrated blue light generation with a conversion efficiency of 65%/W-cm2, the highest reported so far in LiNbO3 waveguides.
