Abstract

Green light was generated by second harmonic generation in LiTaO3 thin films grown on sapphire. We describe the optical properties of the thin films grown by rf magnetron sputtering. We report on the experimental conditions for second harmonic generation by modal dispersion and quasi phase matching. For quasi phase matching, proton exchange was used to periodically deaden the nonlinearity of the crystal.
