Abstract
1. 1. The immunoreactive insulin contents are estimated in the whole pancreas as well as in the cranial, medial and caudal parts all over the year. 2. 2. We have tried to determine if there is any relationship between the evolution of the insulin content and the annual ecophysiological cycle of the animal. This has permitted us to find: (a) An unimodal profile of the pancreatic insulin levels: the maximal values can be observed during the nourishment period, the minimal ones during starvation, (b) A cephalo-caudal gradient of concentration of the pancreatic insulin content (the maximal values located in the caudal part). 3. 3. The present results were compared with those reported for different species especially the action of insulin in the reptelian glucidic metabolism.
