Abstract

Inelastic neutron-scattering measurements have been made on a [ζ00] transverse acoustic phonon branch of Zr2Ni at several temperatures between 300 and 10 K. The experiment was motivated by previous ultrasonic results which showed a large softening of the related elastic constant C66. No phonon softening was observed in our experiment, but a fairly unusual dispersion was noted.
