Abstract
After several years of development, Vehicular ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are now an emerging Telematics environment. Applications have been studied in many fields, including fleet management, vehicle tracking, and driver warming systems. This study proposes a seamless fleet transmission management control mechanism for VANETs. The proposed fleet management process, defined the fleet area by dynamic geocast region, and offers seamless steady inter-vehicle communication according to one-way freeway conditions and vehicle status, including velocity and transmission distance. For in inter-vehicle communication, the conventional defer time algorithm was modified to reduce the problem of frequent network fragmentation and to predict when vehicles are within transmission range and to discovery, new relay vehicles before network fragmentation occurs. The proposed transmission management system provides reliable inter-vehicle communication for a dynamic fleet.
