Abstract
In this study, we have modified the properties of diatomaceous earth precursors which are aimed to be used in the synthesis of V2O5 catalysts. Hence, in the first step, three various samples of Iranian diatomaceous earth were provided from Khorasan and East Azerbaijan mines. In the second step, V2O5 catalysts were synthesized with treated diatomite samples. In order to study the efficiency of acid treatment and the effect of diatomite precursors, characterization tests including XRD, ICP, BET-BJH, SEM and TEM were organized for each step. Eventually, results proved that acid treatment modified microstructure of some diatomaceous earth and increased the performance of the catalyst. The object of this research was to find the best treated diatomite support among Iranian mine and various conditions of acid treatment that can be used in commercial V2O5 catalyst. The results show that C15-Mi (catalyst with diatomite Mianeh mine treated with 15% acid concentration) has the best conversion among all samples.
