Abstract
Male factor underlies >50% infertility cases worldwide, yet treatment mainly relies on Artificial Reproduction Technology (ART). There is clearly an unmet clinical need for new treatment options for the infertile male. A wealth of literature considers both positive and negative effects of the phosphodiesterase inhibitor (PDEI) pentoxiphylline on sperm. It is used clinically by some, but its role is controversial.
