Abstract
A variational method is used to calculate screening constants of ground and excited states of the helium and lithium isoelectronic sequences. The screening constants and energies are tabulated for Z = 2 to Z = 36. The simple analytic wavefunctions obtained form a complete orthonormal basis, which can be used in the many-body perturbation theory.
