Abstract
The preparation of sodium alginate (NaAlg) by a microbial degradation method was proposed using screened strain. The enzyme activity of 1.825 IU was achieved under optimized culture conditions (74 h, 30°C, and pH = 7.5), which was identified as Providencia rettgeri by 16S rDNA sequence analysis and physiological and biochemical tests. Furthermore, calcium condensate-ion exchange process was used to prepare NaAlg, and the purity of sodium alginate was 82.3%. The NaAlg and poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) were mixed as a ratio of 2:8 with nano-tourmaline additive (20 g/mL) for electrospinning process, and the anion NaAlg/PVA/tourmaline fiber was prepared with a smooth and homogeneous morphology, and 1580–1950 tourmaline anions per cubic centimeter of air were released, which was beneficial to human body.
