Abstract
Biogas production by stalk is a most effective way in solving energy problems. The addition of metal ions has great influence on anaerobic methane fermentation. In this paper, Plackett-Burman experimental design was used to screen metal ions playing a key role in biogas fermentation by cotton stalk from 9 metal ions usually involving in anaerobic fermentation. Ni2+ and Fe2+ showed obviously effects on biogas production by cotton stalk among 9 metal ions, Ni2+ promoted the biogas production while Fe2+ deactivated the fermentation. None of the 9 metal ions showed the obviously influence on COD degradation.
