Abstract

Nanotechnology is a precise, considerable science and technology rising within the food industry. It is involved in processing, packaging, storage, transportation, functionality, detection of food pathogens, extended shelf life, and other safety aspects of food. Nanostructured substances derived from metal oxides, inorganic metals, and their composites with bioactive components are used in food to extend shelf life and increase food quality. It can even bring down microbial contamination with the assistance of nano delivery systems and provide fresh and healthier food. In this chapter, nanotechnology focuses on different strategies of food processing and preservation techniques in conjugation with protection issues and governing measures on nano-processed food.
