Abstract

The article focuses on the scientific principles used in the historical studies of performance art and being the basis for theoretical understanding and obtaining objective knowledge regarding the investigation of the nature of this unusual phenomenon. Artistic, social, political forms of performance and their interconnections within the structure of contemporary culture are analyzed. The essence and versatility of the performance art and the full possibilities of its research and application are determined.
