Abstract

The role of librarians service scientists and engineers in higher education in the 21st century is predicted, based on presently perceived changes in scientific and technical communication and higher education during the 90s. Librarians are characterized as flexible, collaborative, high energy, risk-taking visionaries. Leadership itself will be fluid and shared and will not necessarily reside in the top administrative positions.
